Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that originated in Japan over 1000 years ago and has many sub styles that focus on different aspects of the art. However, all styles of jiu jitsu have these qualities in common: joint locking, throws, takedowns, submissions, chokes and grappling. Some focus on self defense while others focus on ground grappling and sport. We are happy to provide all of the above! WHY STUDY BLACK DRAGON JIU JITSU AND JUDO? If you are taking the time to read this article it is because you want to make an informed decision about your future martial arts journey. The reason I am such an advocate for Black Dragon jiu jitsu and Judo is because it truly is a complete package. It is a combat art that can be applied to many different mediums. It offers self defense application from kicks, punches, head locks, grabs, throws, joint locks, the mount and just about any possible 'attack situation.' It also has a sport aspect to it that is the best work out on earth! Did you know that aspects of jiu jitsu have been incorporated into the other martial arts? From Aikido to Krav Maga to Sytema to Judo to the tactical response of police departments and the special forces! In real combat, versus any other fighting style, it is virtually unmatched. BUT DON'T ALL MARTIAL ARTS PROVIDE A COMPLETE PACKAGE? No, they don't. The majority of arts are 'specific' to a certain philosophical boundaries. Judo is primarily a sport throwing art. Tae Kwon Do is primarily a kicking art. Escrima is primarily a knife and stick fighting art. Aikido is primarily a defensive art with no major strikes or ground defense. Black Dragon Jiu Jitsu is a martial art that involves all ranges, from kicking and punching to infighting, clinching and grappling. By using positional dominance, strikes, joint locks, chokes, pressure points, leverage, evasion, and unbalancing, Black Dragon jiu jitsu practitioners learn the easiest ways to protect themselves. By applying leverage in the right amounts and at the right places, the Black Dragon Jiu Jitsu practitioner is able to generate tremendous force without using strength. He/She uses the weight and power of his entire body to create leverage. This leverage is then directed towards the weakest areas of his opponent's body. Unlike other arts, Black Dragon Jiu Jitsu teaches you techniques that involve close quarter, grappling, and GROUND fighting. Jiu Jitsu is an art that has been tested and PASSED on the Japanese battlefield, in the ring of the MMA Pro leagues and street fighting defense tactics. No other art can claim this. It simply works. I spent the early years of my martial art career looking for an art that I felt would do the best in the real world. I did not find Jiu-Jitsu or Judo until after years and years of training in other styles. I asked the same questions as you are and I was lucky enough to find Jiu Jitsu. I also wanted an art that was an intense work out. There are so many instructors from other arts, like karate, Tae Kwon Do, Judo that cross train in Jiu Jitsu . The reason for this is because they understand the importance of grappling and ground fighting. If they don't espouse this to their students, they are doing a great disservice to them. While we encourage the majority of self defense situations to remain on your feet, statistics show that most street fights (90%) end up with the combatants in a clinch (holds or headlocks) and eventually falling to the ground, either deliberately or by accident. Knowing how to fight while on the ground, be it on your back or in a mounted position, is of utmost importance. Instead of simply flailing about, you will learn sweeps, locks, chokes, and positional dominance and control, even over someone stronger and heavier. Black Dragon Jiu Jitsu is one of the self-defense systems that effectively addresses the intricacies of ground fighting and close quarter fighting. Simplicity rules in combat and jujitsu does not advocate fancy or flamboyant kicks or punches. The study of Black Dragon Jiu Jitsu let's one reap the benefits of self defense, self perfection, and body enhancement. If you are looking for a change in your life pattern or want to continue on your path for a fit life, we welcome you. The exercise benefits alone could be reason enough to study Black Dragon Jiu Jitsu. It is a high intensity anaerobic/aerobic work out which keeps the mind sharp and alert. We look forward to hearing from you! |
